Growing Up, released on Disney+ in 2022, is a hybrid documentary series displaying the diverse challenges facing youth coming of age in our current era.
Growing Up used a stylized, music video approach to visual storytelling that took advantage geometric shapes and dreamlike sets. We played with repeated shapes and locations, for both creative and budgetary reasons one weeks Christian church was another week’s basketball court or beauty shop. This created a motif of shapes and bold colors, connecting episodes to each other and establishing a visual language for the series.
